The Goldendoodle breed began in the late 1990’s. It has grown in popularity and has become one of the most recognizable breeds in the world. It is a cross between the Golden Retriever and the Poodle. Goldendoodles have the best features of the Golden Retriever and the Poodle such as loads of affection, high levels of intelligence, and energy, as well as a soft, wavy coat. The Goldendoodle can be bred in different sizes and different generations and these factors can change the look and coat type of the puppy. The sizes are Standard, mini and petite; just like the poodle. The generations are as follows: F1 is a mix of the Golden Retriever and Poodle. These tend to be your biggest pups and have a soft, wavy coat. F1b is a mix of one Goldendoodle and one Poodle parent. These can be your mini or petite sized pups and will have a wavy to curly coat. This generation has the most variances in size, because of one parent being a goldendoodle already. F2B is a mix of breeding an F1 Goldendoodle to a F1B Goldendoodle. This generation is commonly referred to as the biggest mystery when it comes to genetics, however we can use DNA test results from the parents to be sure that our puppies come out with the traits we are looking for. The most important thing to know when choosing one of these is that the F1bs and F2Bs have the least risk of shedding and you being allergic to it! Your Goldendoodle will need to be groomed 4-6 times per year, so we want to make sure that you have that in mind ahead of time. They are one of the most versatile breeds that can live with just about any type of family unit, and could be a city slicker or a country bumpkin! This breed would make a great soft, cuddly, intelligent companion to just about anyone!!
