Cavalier King Charles and Cavapoos

The Cavalier is another breed that was bred for companionship. They were actually bred to warm laps in drafty castles or on chilly carriage rides. They were later used for flushing birds. They are affectionate, playful, intelligent dogs. They are very devoted to their owners. They are excellent with children and they love to cuddle. They are a perfect “lap dog”! This breed is one of the sweetest breeds and those eyes will melt your heart!! They can live in busy homes or quiet “empty nest” homes. Grooming is key to keeping their coat beautiful! They don’t necessarily require a full shave down, but a weekly brushing and bath and sanitary trims are recommended. Keeping up on this grooming keeps the amount of shedding seasonally to a minimum. Cavaliers typically range from 12-18 pounds and come in a variety of colors. We breed traditional colors as well as merles and the very sought after chocolate and tans.

Cavapoos are a hybrid breed between the Cavalier and Mini Poodle. Adding the Mini Poodle genetics in it keeps the personality sweet and affectionate, but lowers the amount of shedding drastically. We don’t always know which parent breed the coat will take more after, but these Cavapoos typically have more of a fluffy, curlier coat as opposed to the Cavalier longer silkier coat. The Cavapoos do require more full grooms per year and are a much better option for families with allergy concerns.
